| Charlotte Harwell, 8 November 1979 1979, coloured pencil on 80 lb. paper, 9x12 inches "A fragrant picture, where I still may find Her face untouched of sorrow and regret Unspoiled of contact; ever young and kind; The spiritual sweetheart of my soul and mind..." Madison Cawein, ca. 1907 This is the very first colour image I did of Charlotte, about a week after the original drawing. Being colour blind the first mistake I made was to make her green eyes brown. Given the materials and techniques I was using at the time, I could not correct the error and so let it stand. Afterwards, I made sure to buy only coloured pencils that had their colours labelledon the barrels. rephotographed 2007 |
